Hi there--I'll start with the intro and tell ya why i'm here--
first and foremost, i'm all about living healthy, but not letting it ruin *i mean 'run' my life. lol I just recently found out that i am gluten intolerant or celiac as some call it. the journey that brought me to the diagnoses made me decide i have to excersise now--not to lose weight as I used to do it for, but just so i can feel good and loose and stretched ya know? I started to here my body TELL me i needed to get off my booty and go for a walk. so, i did start walking--ok, so i've only went once so far--but i also got my hubby and one of our favorite couples to start playing doubles at racquetball. that should be a fun way to get my muscles moving.

I did the Martha's Vineyard Detox 7 day Cleanse in November to flush all the toxins from my system and i can't tell you how good that felt! Whoa--very good!
I wanted to go all organic after reading that book, but i haven't been able to convince my hubby to go for it. my 9 year old liked it and said "do we have any of that origami food?"

oh yeah--and I got blood work tests back from my dr. yesterday that said I tested positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis, but i don't feel like it, so i'm gonna stay in denial on that one! :0)

would love to hear your tips on staying or getting healthy and easing into going green...

I believe quantity is as important or maybe more important that qaulity. So I'm really making an effort to only eat when I'm hungry and not overeat. I do however happen to LOVE healthy food. I can't get enough broccoli, asparagus, salad, seafood, etc. Now I also love pizza & chinese and all the other. So I enjoy the things I like in moderation and make sure to get some of the good stuff in, too. I really try not to deny myself something because then I obsess about it and gotta have it. As far as how I feel, I have been struggling with pain and fatigue for a couple of years and the drs I've been to haven't figured out what the prob is. The pain is in my knees & elbows mostly. I feel better in general since I've been eating only when I'm hungry but the pain still comes from time to time. (I used to do a lot of emotional and boredom eating). I've also lost 7 pounds and I don't feel deprived so I think this is a life change for me. I've also been trying to move more, do more housework, be more active. That also helps me feel better but energy is precious and I try to rest when I feel like I need it.

As far as going green, I really want to do this but it's difficult in my area because there are no easy ways to recycle. I have to drive to a neighboring town to 4 different places to drop of the limited different recycling items they accept, which I can't afford to do on a regular basis with gas as high as it is. I think cities should be required to make recycling available and realistic for people. We are drinking filtered water from our tap now instead of buying so many bottles, even though the taste is still taking some getting used to. I would like to start small growing some veg and have bought a few gardening books but I still feel so confused about how to get started. I bought some of those cfl lightbulbs. Then a relative told me she saw on tv, meredith or someone say they were dangerous. I hadn't heard that and don't know if she's accurate but now I'll have to research that and find out. I had watched Ellen & Oprah on earth day & they talked about the cfls being a good idea. So we're easing into going green as we can.

O.k. I can honestly say I have always LOVED the going green thing. Since I was a kid I was always involved in Students to save the earth and whatever other Earth groups there were.

I will also honestly say its harder than you think. Life is way to easy when you dont think green. I have been much more careful about what I buy and how we throw away our trash lately. I even have DH thinking a little more green. We love organic food as well and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE veggies and fruits and seafood. I would also love to go all organic but its quite a bit more expensive and its just not in our budget right now. When DH gets a job we will be converting especially because the greatest grocery store for organic fruits and veggies is moving in just across the street. I can hardley wait for that.

I really need to exercise more. Since I have graduated college I havent given myself the time to excercise. I used to dance regularly (tap, ballet and jazz) in fact I did that for 16 years. So I may start that up again. I have been looking into some mommy and me classes so I can still spend time with Meredith (my 2-year-old) yet get my excercise in as well. Once the weather gets nice we will be spending much more time outdoors too so that will help. My goal is to be healthy, live healthy and lose about 15-20 pounds.
