Okay, why is it that i always have to re-do my projects? I started sewing this dress for my little girl, after i made the barbie one (i got my tension etc. just right on that). Even though I put my pins in facing the wrong way and had to awkardly take them out with my left hand and push them into my pic cushion on the left, I still thought I was doing rather good :o)

Well, AS you can see in the pics, I got done and realized that the red lines on the gathered/smocked/stretchy area at the top don't line up!!! So, I can't find my seam ripper so i use scissors and take out all of these tiny stitches!! After I get all the stitches out, I find my seam ripper! Wouldn't ya know it!

Then, I remembered something from home- ec class YEARS ago, iron it first!! So, I iron over my seams and then pin it (the right way this time) and sew in the seams first instead of just having a raw edge :o) Then, I sewed it together and then hemmed it. I don't know if my steps were right, but I'm sure as heck not taking it apart again!! And, it looks not half bad :o)

Now, all I need to do is put some straps on it. I was thinking of buying some red ric-rac and stitching that on for straps!

It does look great!! did you also sew all the red lines as well?? and how cute one for her and her barbie!!??

no, I didn't sew the red lines, the fabric was supposed to be an easy project! I bought it from Wal-Mart in the fabric area and it was already smocked (or whatever that's called)

But, thanks :o) It was fun to accomplish a sewing project and i realize I could use some sewing lessons!

Thanks Laura!!
Even though it was frustrating, I really enjoyed it and my kids loved watching me sew :o) Hopefully my next project is a little easier!

Great job! I love these types of dresses. I made one for myself last summer. They are great for those hot summer nights. Although I must confess that I was looking at it this morning hanging in the closet thinking, "that pattern would look great in a quilt, I wonder how many squares I can get out of it?" LOL

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
