What a great idea! I saw one on Two Peas made with a chrome towel holder for smaller bags of goodies.... Here is a link http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_i...

Tee - have you or anyone else here been able to find the two-tier chrome holder for the smaller embellishments? I would like to make this one as well however, I am having no luck at all finding this holder. I have been to the Home Goods store and to Ross and no luck.

Anyone have any other good ideas for holding smaller embellishments?

Thanks so much for sharing this tip. I have seen those organizers and have passed them over every time. I know I can make this one and plan to give it a try.

Happy crafting!

I had to run out tonight for an errand and I came upon a Home Goods store (never been in it before) and stopped specifically to get the paper towel holder! I'm going to give it a try too!

Great tip!

Hi everyone,

Well, I have basically completed my Clip It holder from the paper towel holder however, I'm not sure it's going to hold up. It sort of wants to lean over a bit with the pages. I used the same holder, some page protectors (although the ones I used are thinner), and I had to place a piece of cardstock in each one to brace it or the protectors would have not held up. I put some packages of foam letters in the sleeves last night, but it still seems off. I think I'm going to try switching out the thinner page protectors to thicker ones and see if this helps (gosh, that will be a job!). If anyone had any idea what I'm doing wrong, please don't hesitate to say so here.

Thanks, Robbie

P.S. I will post a pic of how it is right now in just a bit.

Wow! Do some people have great ideas or what!!?! That's great! Thanks so much for sharing! I've seen similar things to this with photos- can't remember the manufacturer but I passed it up at Recollections going out of business sale even discounted it was so expensive! This would be great to use for photos... I'm picturing using canvas boards glued back to back, punched with my cropadile... ohhhh- I've GOT to add this to my long to-do list- towards the top!

Hi all,

Thought I would share this added info regarding the Clip-It organizer. I finally found a copy of the book "Organizational Tips for Scrapbookers" where the the idea came from originally. I thought I would pass on the person who created the altered version used a chrome paper towel holder by Umbra brand. Also, she used 3.5 binder rings, 100 sheet protectors and also 100 sheets of white cardstock to make the protector more sturdy.

In making mine, I found a similar chrome paper towel holder, but not the exact one and it is working fairly well. Also, a tip from me - I would try and find the heavy-weight page protectors. They are more expensive ($10 for a box of 50 I believe), however they will hold up much, much better (I first used thin protectors at first and had to re-do the entire thing!). Oh - by adding some chipboard embellishments in the Clip-It holder, it helped to add some weight to it.

Mine is working great. Here's a pic of it finished.

Good luck in making yours! It really did cut down in space usage for my larger embellishments.

Thanks Julie for letting us in on this version.

Robbie that looks awesome! I like that you have a ton of embellishments all at your fingertips, and that everything is visible. I wonder how that would work for a crop..just set it all up with photos/paper to match..that would be all you need with your basic tools!..lol..imagine?!

Glad you were able to adapt it and make it work for you. :o)

Thanks. Yes - I was really amazed, it's a wonderful idea at a fraction of the cost!

I don't know about taking it on the go - you could try it and see. I would be a bit concerned about the item shifting or falling out of the top. If you could secure the tops and secure everything to one side I guess it might just work. When I go to crops - I take only what I'm working on that day so I wouldn't have a need to take mine but let me know if you do.

Thanks for sharing!

Robbie
