So--which one of your favorite magazines have closed shop recently? I was devastated to find out that my most favorite Country Home and Cottage Living are over. Done. Gonzo. It put me in the WORST mood the day I found out.

My husband tried to lift my spirits by pointing out that the mission of Cr8tiveLiving.com should fill that void, and although I agree with him in part, there really isn't any website that can replace the rush of excitement of the latest issue waiting for you to sit and devour every little word and photo.

What do you think?

I was just thinking about this last night when we were chatting about the possibility of Creating Keepsakes shutting down. They arent holding their Hall of Fame or Scrapbooker of the year contests this year. So we're thinking that means they don't have too much longer to go. I do love having those mags to read while waiting for Cate at swimming, etc., so I'm pretty bummed, but that's the way it goes. Do you think those publications will close down but keep some sort of online option, or are they just going to be taken over by online websites like Two Peas in a Bucket and cr8tiveliving?

if they do keep online options, I'm not confident it will be the content we need it to. That's the exact reason why there isn't a site out yet that is what Cr8tiveLiving will be.

I think what it might boil down to is mobile apps after technology becomes more readily available etc. I recently started reading my facebook status updates on my blackberry when I'm waiting etc. would be even better once I have the iPhone--

right, as I was writing this, I thought, I'm going to need a much better phone. I can access my emails on my phone, but I'm going to need to be able to get into websites, etc...

I agree 100% here. My phone has sort of replaced the magazines in a sense because it is always with me, it's easily accessible, and I can browse multiple sites without having to carry around or keep track of current issues. (That and those mags are dropping like flies!) However, most sites are not mobile web browser friendly - they don't have seperate mobile sites or they are too "thick" up front to navigate on my phone's browser. I'd LOVE for more content providers to give me access to their articles in a way that I can actually use it on my phone (at practices, while waiting for hte bus, etc.)

I LOVE magazines...the feel of them, the colors, the shiny paper! Its hard to see them go(first Simple Scrapbooks and now this one!) Wow...I have only two mag subscriptions(Vamp Stamp News and Scrapbooks Etc.)...and the price on one year for VSN is $36 and the SB-Etc I renewed for two years for $19.95(got the second year free)...so the prices are either too high or too low. You wonder how they can stay in business!? I read a lot of magazines at the library...but to be honest its sites like yours I find I get more inspiration now!
So, I am sad, especially if the mag is a fave!

I read on Nancy's Scrapbookupdate.com that Scrapbooks Etc seems to be doing okay. And with the backing of BHG that might be what's helping. So that script might be safe, for now. (if that's any consolation)

Magazines are so cool. The internet is great, if I'm home. Otherwise, I like to have a mag.
I think I would be devasted if Cloth, Paper, Scissors went buh-bye.

I don't have a laptop, so it would be rather difficult to drag the computer to bed with me at night! Or when I curl up in the corner of the couch. Or when I have an appointment and have to wait, wait, wait. Guess I'm old-fashioned, but give me a good magazine or book and I'm happy.

I too LOVED my country home mag and am so sad to see it go :o(
I hope BH&G keeps coming every month! I've read that since I was a kid at home and have subscribed ever since I was out on my own at 17! I'm payed up till 2011!! And, as much as I love my computer, I'm like others commenting, I don't have a laptop or iphone to take with me or curl up on the couch or in bed with. And, there's just something about the paper and holding it and flipping the pages that will never be the same with computers/electronic devices. I guess I like both and want both!

No laptop or iphone here either....I have to agree with you all...electronic gizmos maybe here and the wave of the future...but its something about having a book/ mag to flip through that can be so relaxing!

And, now what am I gonna flip thru while taking a relaxing bubble bath?!? Wouldn't want to drop anything electronic in there even if I had something portable!!

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
