In these tough times reports show that crafters are busier than ever making what they need instead of buying. Using up thier personal craft stashes rather than buying new. Like for instance making your own jewlery instead of buying or giving handmade gifts as apposed to purchasing new. So what do you do? Make or Buy?

I try to make as much as I can when it comes to gift giving. For /Christmas I made jewelry, scrapbook calendars and bbq rub mixes.

I try to make as much as possible, especially for the grandkids. Danielle got High School Musical pillowcases for her birthday, Mason got a Steeler pillow, etc. I also look for bargains...York Photo had their mugs 50% off, so for three of the April birthdays, I had mugs made (photos with a caption).
This is the year to replenish the zucchini relish supply, so I will be doing that and applesauce this summer/fall. I sent the boys in Iraq a jar of zucchini relish and they headed for the mess tent ASAP for hot dogs.

Kris, I LOVE zucchini relish!! A friend of mine made me some once and I've been out for years now!! Time I learned to make it I guess ;o)

Ashley, it's the easiest thing to make! My nutty kids fight over it, especially when the supply begins to run low! Also good, zucchini lime pickles. Hmmm, maybe we should start a "what do you do with all that zucchini" discussion before we are overrun with the stuff!

That is a GOOD idea!! Maybe we should start a canning group or Summer bounty group!
I plan on having at least one zucchini plant in my garden this year and sharing recipes (and by sharing I mean you sharing and me copying!) sounds like a FAB idea!! :o)

I do a little bit of both. I really love to make but my limited amount of time doesn't allow me to make as much as I would like to.

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
