Ok so browsing through the quilting section in M's last week I ran across a yo-yo doohickey thing that helps you space the stitches evenly apart so you can make neat yo-yos. It is manufactured by Clover.
I always liked yo-yos but never had an inclination to make some. Well, I took it to work today and started practicing with some fabric I had cut up for a long ago forgotten project. Can I tell you this thing was sooooo sweet!!! I made a few and can't wait for my long commute tomorrow. It's an easy travel project. All you need is needle, thread, and a pair of scissors. I plan to cut all my circles tonight to make it even faster. I plan on using my girl's old summer dresses to make some. The item costs $6.99 but I had a 50% off coupon.
Also, has anyone made anything with yo-yos? So far I am thinking of a wall hanging and maybe a coverlet. Please post pics if you have made anything with yo-yos. I will certainly post pics when I am done.
Thanks in advance.

Great tut Jeanne!! I actually went and searched for tutes after Ini first posted this and found some, but this one is FAR better!!! I actually haven't been able to get the thought of these little things out of my mind since then either---hehe

I love yo-yo's also. I keep saying I'm going to make a window covering using them, but I've never done it. One day I was watching Sleepless in Seatle and noticed a table cover that was done in yo-yo's and another movie that I can't remember had a bedspread made with them. I loved them and want to eventually make something using yo-yo's. Thanks for the tut and I'll have to look for the doohickey!

OMG Inez...when I was a kid my grandmother use to sit me down and we'd sew for HOURS..and one of the things I used to love to make was these crazy little yo-yo's...I remember I made a vest..omg if I had a pic of THAT- and it was the SEVENTIES so it was acceptable then! My mom made a blanket one summer..just working on the little yo-yo's in the evenings at our summer place. They are a classic!

It was great seeing you tonight...we need to get together to CROP!

I love yo-yo's! I started doing a yo-yo afghan in the 70's, but don't know what happened to it. It was a yo-yo center, then you did the button-hole stitch around the edge, and then crocheted around it similar to a granny square.

Well, I ended up at JA's yesterday and bought the larger circle Yo-Yo maker. Noticed that had a flower one too...(maybe great for scrapbooks and cards!). Will get that one another time!
When I get time this weekend(after VBS!) I plan to see what I can do!

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
