I guess picture upload did work - just doesn't show it right away. Here is a couple more nice examples of stone walls like I would like to have around our house. BTW After shopping for stones on fathers day and seeing how much the stones cost and how heavy they are my wife is trying to talk me in to sticking with hedges instead of a stone wall.

I thought I picked a safe topic in stone walls that no one would be interested in. I have not build our stone wall yet and our garden is not yet photogenic but I will include some pictures.

I have always loved English landscape garden design. My wife and I went to the UK last summer (her first trip there) and I made a point of showing her some of the nicest gardens in the Cotswalds. We came back inspired to turn the yard of our 100 year old dutch colonial house into an English cottage garden.

A key in garden design is to create a structure of the space. The paths, benches, walls, etc set the stage for the plants. Most english cottage gardens are surrounded by beautiful stone work walls. Here are a couple of pictures:

Well they were nice pictures but file upload does not seem to work so I will try later.

OH, you must post pictures of the garden, please. I am known as the thumb of death--the plants shy away when they see me outside. Even the grass fears me.
Glad you are here. :D

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
