I just saw this post Kris, I'm back off and on right now and I hope others will come back too! I'm sure everyone has been super busy over the Summer and as they start to do more projects indoors, they'll slowly come back. I hope anyways :)

Kris

I'm back (I think)!

I haven't been doing much on here lately, and wasn't very Cr8tive for awhile, but now things seem to be getting better, so I'm back. I guess I was going through a spell of depression for a month or so, and I really didn't care much about anything around me. A lot of it had to do with the family activities going on (graduations, etc.) that Jim is not here for. But I guess it's time to move on and get myself moving.
Speaking of moving, I am considering selling this house and moving "downtown." Thi… Continue

Bekha's 8th birthday

Hard to believe that Bekha is eight years old already! This is the Smilebox I sent to her Dad in Iraq.

Cleveland Sewing Expo

Looks like there were shows from one end of the country to the other this weekend! (See the Sacramento Quilt, Craft, and Sewing Festival blog). Like Sacramento, no pictures were allowed at the Cleveland show. Bummer!
A friend and I went to the show on a bus trip sponsored by our quilt guild. What a great way to travel! For $30.00, we rode to Cleveland, were admitted to the show, and were able to take two classes. We were dropped off and picked up right at the door -- no walking through the parki… Continue

Trip to IKEA

IKEA must have had Cr8tive people in mind when they designed all their goodies! It's really pretty mind boggling when you visit their store for the first time. Once we got the hang of following the arrows (I'm figuring all the stores have them), it wasn't so bad.
Diane and I got to Pittsburgh around 11:00 and spent an hour wandering around the store. We picked up lots of little organizers and checked out the furniture. Then we decided to take a break and have lunch. We went to Joe's Crab Shack,… Continue

Kris

Got some Cr8tive things going today!

I just got home from a day of scrapping and sewing. I did a two-page spread for my ABC album, worked on a teacup album (chipboard cup shape from Maya Road), and sewed the binding on three sides of a quilt. Had a great time with old friends, lots of good food, and tons of ideas shared.
I got the all-clear from the doctor on Tuesday. Good thing because there is something to do almost every day this coming week. You know, fun things like taking the dog to the vet, getting the income tax done, new t… Continue

I always wanted hair like hers. How vain is that? I think that is the first thing I noticed about the magazine....she has the lifestyle I love, AND she has the hair I have wanted since I was 5. Life is just not fair! The dog in my life now is a yellow lab. I tell people she has everything I want, she is a natural blond with natural eyeliner!
Anyway, I enjoy the magazine and am looking forward to the next one. I still have time to strive for the lifestyle.......

Just received my first issue of "Mary Jane's Farm", a magazine featuring organic lifestyle (not radical) and the "farmgirl at heart". It is kind of a country/down home publication with articles on quilts, yard sales, stories by women, etc. It is kind of neat. Check out www.maryjanesfarm.com for a sample of the content.

Hi Kris, It's so good to hear from you! :) Good luck with the move, I never like moving .... all the packing. My mom is a huge pack rat, but my step dad keeps her in check ;) She has TONS of books though!! They are packing like crazy and we'll be going up there soon to move everything down here for them. At least everything is going into storage for now and we don't have to unpack everything yet! Makes it easier doing it in stages that's for sure. Talk to you soon~

Glad to hear you got a house! Moving is a lot of work, but just think how much fun it will be to decorate all new. I have to assume it is a smaller house than you had before, so it will be easier to take care of too. Sometimes I think I would like to downsize a little, then we have a family gathering and I wonder how I would manage without these room sizes. What I really need is a little cottage and a HUGE warehouse (I am an admitted packrat!).
So happy to hear your boys came home in one piece. Do they have to go back? Please thank them for me for their service. How lonely people without kids must be.
How bored/boring must people be who do not do crafts or sew or have hobbies!! I can't imagine waking up in the morning without a list of things to do every day. I hope I will be doing these things until I am 100. Yesterday when my daughter and I were "scanning" at the Goodwill store, I got a wild hair to buy some old silver pieces to PAINT! I waxed the parts (handles and decorated edges) with paste was, then sprayed them in off-white paint. Then I used steel wool to rub back the waxed parts and "highlight" spots to let the silver shine through. It gives a country "cottage" look to them. Love it. (More STUFF)!
Good luck with your teeth. Next week a bunch of us are going to a "Girlfriends Night Out" put on by a garden center in Eugene. Will write again after that. Later, M

Hey Kris! How are ya doin? Did you move from your house? Hope you are staying busy. I see your chipboard books are so cute. I looked thru the stash of children's books I have on hand, and the only ones suitable for altering are too good to alter! Oh, well, not like I don't have anything else to do! Now I have to start Christmas gifts for friends. I am making colorful wallets for my girlfriends, and maybe some totes for my quilting friends who go to retreats with all their stuff. When my husband goes Elk hunting for a while, I can work in the sewing room without interruption. Should get a lot done. This week I will be doing macaroni and cheese for the homecoming bonfire/wiener roast ( 100 + people).

You would love these cute little quilts I saw at the Sisters show, they were no bigger than a placemat, hung lengthwise and marked into squares with 1/4"bias quilters tape (the kind for doing stained glass quilting). In each square was scrapbook elements....buttons, etc. in a theme like Christmas, graduation, baby, sports or Halloween. There are such cute scrapbook elements, and if you are not a scrapbooker you would never buy them. These would make great gifts for those occasions or for a kids room. Maybe I will make some and post pix on my site.

nope, nothing! But, I only put on my handmade jar openers. Since I've had zero bites, I haven't felt like putting other things on there.

How's your chipboard book coming? I can't wait to see pics :)
I've been so busy with the end of the school year and also kids appointments and urgent care (son jammed or sprained his finger and thought it was broken) and E.R. (daughter fell off the monkey bars and broke her arm) that I haven't even gotten started. I'll let you know when i do, maybe you can post pics and I'll copy,LOL!!

Wow, YGG!! I still haven't found a normal looking board book. I checked 3 or 4 garage sales yesterday and ... nothing! I can't wait to see yours! :o) And, I'll keep searching ~

Is Potato Leek Soup Crafty?

I hope so, because I was feeling pretty creative!  With summer well on its way, I’m getting into the fresh food groove and inspired to try some quick, simple recipes. The bright hues of the vegies reminded me of a garden party, which in turn made me remember I need to sew a few summer table [...]
