I haven't been doing much on here lately, and wasn't very Cr8tive for awhile, but now things seem to be getting better, so I'm back. I guess I was going through a spell of depression for a month or so, and I really didn't care much about anything around me. A lot of it had to do with the family activities going on (graduations, etc.) that Jim is not here for. But I guess it's time to move on and get myself moving.
Speaking of moving, I am considering selling this house and moving "downtown." Thi…

Hard to believe that Bekha is eight years old already! This is the Smilebox I sent to her Dad in Iraq.

Looks like there were shows from one end of the country to the other this weekend! (See the Sacramento Quilt, Craft, and Sewing Festival blog). Like Sacramento, no pictures were allowed at the Cleveland show. Bummer!
A friend and I went to the show on a bus trip sponsored by our quilt guild. What a great way to travel! For $30.00, we rode to Cleveland, were admitted to the show, and were able to take two classes. We were dropped off and picked up right at the door -- no walking through the parki…

IKEA must have had Cr8tive people in mind when they designed all their goodies! It's really pretty mind boggling when you visit their store for the first time. Once we got the hang of following the arrows (I'm figuring all the stores have them), it wasn't so bad.
Diane and I got to Pittsburgh around 11:00 and spent an hour wandering around the store. We picked up lots of little organizers and checked out the furniture. Then we decided to take a break and have lunch. We went to Joe's Crab Shack,…

I just got home from a day of scrapping and sewing. I did a two-page spread for my ABC album, worked on a teacup album (chipboard cup shape from Maya Road), and sewed the binding on three sides of a quilt. Had a great time with old friends, lots of good food, and tons of ideas shared.
I got the all-clear from the doctor on Tuesday. Good thing because there is something to do almost every day this coming week. You know, fun things like taking the dog to the vet, getting the income tax done, new t…

Or maybe I should say "previous" faces, instead of "old." Oh well, you get the idea. It was a pleasant surprise this morning to see some folks back that we hadn't heard from in a while.
The sun is shining brightly this morning, which is sure good for this old gals mood! It's supposed to rain later, but that's okay -- it's not snow!
My ankle is improving, and I am getting around more now. I go to the doctor next week. I told the kids that if he doesn't give me the thumbs up, I am going to spit in…

I hate to rush the year, but it is almost March, and not long until spring. This is one winter that I will not mind being over! My friend, who lives twenty-five miles from here, said the sun is shining. Here? Nah, more snow!
The ankle is getting better, and yesterday I ventured out shopping. A friend and I went to Joann's, and two local quilt shops. Bought basic supplies at Joann's, and priced a long-arm quilting machine at the first quilt shop. They were really great about explaining the workin…

the weather outside is frightful! This winter is just like the old days! I haven't seen this much snow in forever, or maybe even longer. I think it's the fact that the snow is just accumulating and not going away between storms. I promised the dog that we would go for a nice long walk...maybe in April!
More drama in my life (this is getting ridiculous), because on Tuesday I broke my ankle! Don't know what's going on with it yet...have to go to the orthopedic guy on Tuesday. Of course, everyone h…

I want to wish everyone a peaceful holiday season. Cherish your loved ones - both family and friends, and make many wonderful memories.
We will have our memories this Christmas, as things changed radically at the beginning of December. I lost my husband, who was also my best friend, this month.
So, Christmas will be a little quieter this year, but we will still gather together for the kids, and to be with the two boys who are home for a few days before leaving for Iraq.
Enjoy your holiday, which…

I trust everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, enjoying family and friends and lots of good food! My daughter did Thanksgiving at her house this year, and although I still did quite a bit of cooking, it was all do-ahead stuff, so it was a pleasure to go and relax and enjoy! Unfortunately, my hubby didn't make it home for the big day. He is a truck driver and one never knows if he will be here. We also missed the boys and their families, but they will all be here for Christmas. It seemed rather q…

Seems like we've been gone forever! My last post spoke about summer, and now we are almost into winter! We've been very fortunate, though, only a sprinkling of snow so far, and the last week has been really warm. No snowsuits for Halloween!
The boys are halfway through their training in Mississippi, and will leave for Louisiana shortly. They will be home for Christmas (12/23 thru 1/2) and then leave for Iraq. Sure do miss them!
Sad news...we lost our dog a few weeks ago. He developed something I…

I can't believe it is already Labor Day. We are having company for a couple days, and having a picnic/party at our house on Sunday. We'll celebrate the August birthdays, and a friend and her kids will be here from Maryland, but the biggest reason is to wish our two sons well. They are leaving for Mississippi on September 19 for three months training, and then on to Iraq in December.
The "boys," (who are actually 32 and 37) were both in the Navy for over eight years. Both felt that they should st…
