Each year, the Alzheimer's Association holds a Memory Walk which is the signature event for awareness and fundraising. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $225 million to help fight Alzheimer's and help those currently living with the disease. This year, our local Memory Walk will be held on Saturday, September 27th at the Erie Zoo.
Alzheimer's Disease is something that has been a real part of our family. For the past 10 years or so, my husband's Grandmother has been battling the effects of this disease. So of course, being the scrapbooker that I am, I thought, what better way to raise awareness and support for the Alzheimer's Association that with a scrapbooking crop, or two! LOL!
So both of my monthly crops in September are going to be fundraising crops for our family's walk team. I know the majority of you are too far away to come play with us at the crops (but you're more than welcome to come if you're near Erie, PA!), but if anyone would like to donate to the cause, you are able to do it online directly to our team and not have to worry about sending donations through the mail to me (some stranger! LOL I won't run off with your money to aid in my scrapbooking addiction, I swear!).
So you can go check out our team site if you feel inclined, every little bit helps. If not, that's fine as well! Our team site is: http://memorywalkpa.kintera.org/erie/irememberwhen
You can also go to www.alz.org to find a Memory Walk near you. I know this disease, and the varying degrees of dimentia have touched many lives and it's just one more reason that scrapbooking is so important for our families.
Thank you!
